The medical standards for NDA qualification is quite high. The NDA conducts a very high quality medical test for the SSB qualified cadets. Very less percentage of students get selected in SSB and those who are able to sustain and proceed through all the five days of the test that is conducted on the pattern designed by the DRDO; the board sends them to the chosen medical centre across the country which are centrally administered. Various tests are conducted so as to get the full detailed analysis of the body, and if the cadet has no disfunctionality then the very person gets a go through, and will be successfully qualified for the trainings.
The total duration required or consumed by the military hospital to complete the examination process is four to five days. The procedure adopted by the medical board is highly confidential and is not revealed to anyone. However, if a candidate is declared unfit by the medical board, then they will have one more option of challenging or appealing to the president of the medical board. And, if there is any postural deformation then they have a specific time frame to correct their deformation. Else the re examination will be conducted at the military hospital under the president of the medical board.
Procedure to Appeal to the Medical Board
The candidates who want to challenge the medical board must appear before the examination board within the stipulated time frame which is 42 days from the date of examination. The special team will re conduct the examination under the medical boards president. This procedure will get completed within a day.
The centres for appeal are:
1. INHS Ashvini, Mumbai
2. Command Hospital, Central command, Lucknow
3. Command Hospital, Eastern command, Kolkata
4. Command Hospital, Western command, Chandimandir
5. Command Hospital, Southern command, Pune
6. Command Hospital, Air force, Bangalore
7. Command Hospital, Northern command, C/o 5c APO
8: Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt.
The candidates who are declared unfit by the Appeal medical board, the the person may challenge the proceedings and then depending upon the merit of the candidates the review or appeal is taken into consideration.
Stay During the Medical Examination
The candidates who are selected in the SSB after the result declaration will have to stay in the selection centres, as described by the officials in the military hospitals, and they would be allotted a new chest number which is different from the one in SSB.
However, the candidates who go for an appeal have to make their own arrangements during their re medical examination.
The most important criterion to be fulfilled by the SSB qualifiers is the discipline at the military hospitals, else they might get rejected straight away.
